
Head Nordic Coach – St. Michael’s College
St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, seeks a Head Men’s and Women’s Nordic Ski Coach to lead its program in alignment with the school’s mission and athletic philosophy. Responsibilities include creating a safe and supportive environment for student-athletes, ensuring academic excellence and fostering strong coach-athlete relationships. The coach is expected to develop and implement a year-round training program, manage roster size, and oversee recruitment efforts, ensuring timely communication with prospective students and admissions.
The role also involves daily practice planning, coaching and waxing at competitions, and maintaining a comprehensive recruiting database. Additional duties include promoting academic success, supporting student-athlete development, and engaging the team in community service and department-wide events. The coach must effectively manage team expenses, oversee equipment needs, and coordinate special trips and training camps with administrative approval.
St. Michael’s College races in the competitive Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) conference. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and at least five seasons of Nordic skiing coaching experience at the collegiate, professional, or National level. A US Ski and Snowboard L100 certification, CPR and First Aid certifications, and eligibility to drive college vehicles are required. The position demands flexibility for extensive travel, irregular hours, and the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions. Additionally, collaboration with the Head Alpine Coach to supervise the new Kelley Ski Center is expected.

The Fort Kent Outdoor Center in Northern Maine has a full time year round opening for a Venue Manager / Nordic Coach at our state of the art Nordic/Biathlon facility. Come ski and work on the best natural snow in New England in the winter and enjoy our 3km roller loop and biathlon range for training in the summer! We are looking for an energetic Nordic enthusiast to work with a very active Board to manage the activity at our facility and train a group of Post Graduate athletes year round as well as organize off season training camps. Biathlon experience is a plus, but not necessary. This is a full time benefits included position with in town housing available.
Essential Functions
Working together with the FKOC Board of Directors and local volunteers, the Venue Manager will establish a consistent presence at FKOC welcoming and assisting users and in the community promoting the activities available.
Duties to include the following
- Ensure FKOC’s insurance and safety protocols are implemented
- Maintain and increase membership thru community outreach
- Oversee programming
- Coaching Nordic post graduate and youth athletes in the Jalbert program which would include traveling and supporting athletes at competitions off site, directing the Saturday learn to ski program and coordinate elementary school sessions.
- Solicit and coordinate events with partners; MPA, NENSA, USBA, NEMBA etc
- Venue development through new uses of facilities to engage new community members
- Coordinate maintenance and cleaning of facilities indoor and outdoor together with volunteers and contractors
- Coordinate priorities closely with the board of directors
- Marketing events and programs through social media and website
Job Requirements
- Must be reliable
- Must have excellent communication skills with proficient computer skills
- Flexibility is a must as events/programs may dictate work time
- Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team of volunteers
- Must be able to perform light maintenance work around the venue, must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Nordic Program Director
Job Description
Holderness School seeks a full-time Nordic Program Director to promote passion and spirit for the sport of Nordic skiing. Reporting to the Holderness School Snow Sports Director, Ben Drummond, this position contributes to the overall success of the school’s on-snow programs. The role is responsible for managing the newly homologated Davis Cross Country Ski Trails, with coaching, instructing, recruiting, and building the ski community at Holderness.
Holderness School occupies an important place in the New England Nordic skiing community, through its history of instruction and competition, its updated facilities, and through its long commitment to junior athlete development. US Ski & Snowboard has named Holderness School a USSS Gold-certified club and a high-performance center, the highest honor award to an affiliated ski program. Gold-certified clubs possess a heightened level of accountability to maintain and build upon areas of both strength and improvement, to ensure the longevity and stability of the organization, and to help, through feedback and observation, to grow the cumulative strength of clubs throughout regions and across the country.

Program Director and Head Coach
Finding Our Stride (FOS), a dynamic nonprofit providing free afterschool running programs at K–8 schools across the greater Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire, seeks an energetic, motivated individual with a passion to serve youth to join our small team as Program Director and Head Coach. The Program Director will oversee afterschool running programs in 30+ locations in VT and NH and will be responsible for training coaches and developing coaching resources; managing program operations and logistics; program development and evaluation; and coordinating school recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized, collaborative, self-starter with strong communication skills and a passion for engaging youth in healthy active lifestyles. Experience working with and coaching youth, a commitment to inclusion and accessibility, and a belief that all youth deserve opportunities to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially is required. Experience working in public K–8 school settings is highly desirable.
We are a fully remote team, based in the Upper Valley with scheduled in-person meetings twice per month. During the Spring and Fall seasons, frequent local travel is expected for school site visits and coaching support. This is a part-time, salaried position. The position averages 3 days/week (60% full-time) over the year, however, it will require close to full-time effort during the busy spring and fall seasons and is less busy with a flexible work schedule during the summer and winter months. The Program Director and Head Coach will report to the Executive Director.
About Finding Our Stride
Founded in 2011, Finding Our Stride (FOS) provides free afterschool running programs at more than 30 schools across Vermont and New Hampshire. We partner with small, rural schools throughout the Upper Valley region engaging youth in building fitness, self-esteem and resilience, and deeper relationships with peers, mentors, and their communities. Teams practice twice per week for 60–90 minutes during both spring and fall seasons. Our programs, co-designed with teachers and school leaders at partner sites, create inclusive and welcoming environments for all youth. Enrollment in our afterschool programs is free, and our Sneaker Fund provides vouchers for free running shoes to ensure there are no barriers to entry. FOS provides stipends for our coach-mentors, nutritious snacks, and entry fees and support for end-of-season events and community engagement activities. In 2024, more than 100 coach-mentors, 80% of whom are faculty and staff at partner sites, served more than 1200 student-runners.
