Position Summary:
The Craftsbury Ski Club (CSC) is seeking an individual with a diverse coaching skill set to assist with the development of our BKL/Junior/Master cross country skiing and biathlon programs. The CSC operates under the umbrella of the Outdoor Center and serves roughly 300 people aged 6-85 who are pursuing a goal of lifelong ski development. Our platforms range from learn-to-ski programs to highly competitive junior programs to recreational masters. The Craftsbury biathlon programs operate alongside CSC and serve a smaller subset of the same athletes. During the off season, most of our ski and biathlon coaches stay busy working with our mountain bike programs, particularly our Wheels On Wheels learn-to-ride program.
Pay:
Commensurate with experience in the range of $21 – $22 per hour with a weekend shift differential. Includes possibility of temporary staff housing in the first few months of employment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities May Include:

- Traveling to regional races to provide waxing and race support
- Helping develop practice plans for any given group
- Assisting in managing and maintaining equipment
- Helping to organize and coach day and overnight camps
- Biathlon rifle and range maintenance
- Assisting with weekly learn-to-ride bike groups on campus and at local schools
Qualifications:
- US Ski & Snowboard L100 coach certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience cross country skiing at a collegiate or higher level
- Ability to work with varied ages and abilities
- Willingness to work atypical hours under demanding conditions
- Experience working with kids
- Biathlon background preferred

Assistant Coach of Nordic Skiing – Williams College
The Williams College Nordic Ski Team is searching for an energetic and organized Assistant Coach to join our successful NCAA program! We’re looking for someone with a strong competitive background who excels at building relationships and is eager to contribute to all aspects of our program, from on-snow technique to recruiting.
Description
We are now accepting applications for the role of Assistant Coach of Nordic Skiing. This is a 40 hour per week, 10-month position with a full meal plan and a benefit package spread over 12 months, and also provides full tuition-remission of graduate school after six months of employment. Williams is a Division III institution and a member of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) and New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC).
Williams Skiing has a long history of success including NCAA qualifiers and All-EISA skiers. With an energetic Nordic skiing community throughout the Northern Berkshires and Southern Vermont, Williams provides the ideal place for an intercollegiate Nordic ski team. Junior Nordic Team Assistant Coach – Ford Sayre
Ford Sayre Memorial Ski Council in Hanover, NH is a 501(c3) established in 1950 to promote the sport of skiing in the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Ford Sayre is a volunteer-based organization that supports Alpine, Jumping, Nordic and Ski Mountaineering. The Nordic branch supports over 350 skiers, making Ford Sayre one of the largest Nordic programs in the United States.
Description
The Junior Assistant Coach will work closely with the Nordic Head Coach to support all aspects of the U16-U20 Junior Nordic Team (JNT). The JNT consists of 25-30 area high school skiers whose primary athletic focus is Nordic skiing. The JNT program offers fully-supported race travel trips (transportation, lodging and race support) to these skiers, creating a unique environment for team bonding and personal development. The right candidate will be community-minded, committed to adolescent development,
and have exceptional communication skills. The Junior Assistant Coach is expected to coach 5-8 training sessions per week (Jun-Mar). Summer and
winter are the busiest seasons for in-person obligations. In the fall, the number of coaching sessions is typically 5-6/week in the after school block or on weekends. As a key member of the Ford Sayre coaching team, this position will also be requested to provide some administrative support to our adult and youth programming.
The ideal candidate would also be interested in pursuing this position for more than one season.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead or support at 5-8 practices per week
- Collaborate with Head Coach to write group and individual training plans
- Regularly review athlete training logs
- Draft and send regular written and in-person communications with athletes, parents, coaches and other stakeholders
- Travel with the JNT to all supported races including overnight Eastern Cup weekends and at least two training camps

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The National Team Cross Country World Cup Coach will provide elite level technical and tactical coaching to A and B Team athletes. With a focus on performance, this Coach will work with all athletes to elevate their knowledge and execution of technical and tactical aspects of elite level skiing. The Coach will support athletes and their personal coaches plans and objectives by providing onsite coaching and inclusive, detailed multi-faced communication throughout the season.
The World Cup Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach and Sport Director and may be solely responsible for the organization and coaching of certain camps, including writing the camp training plan, or organizing World Cup weeks. Key to this position is the coach’s ability to manage the variety of daily training needs while on the road, and to assist each athlete and affiliate club equally. This coach must pay special attention to injured or overtrained athletes and maintain communication with all relevant coaches and sports medicine providers, to ensure injured athletes can manage their morale and return to sport quickly.

- Provide world class technical and tactical coaching in an effective manner

- Maintain positive relationships with the FIS staff, industry, other national teams, individual Organizing Committees, and volunteers. These relationships are critical partnerships for the team.
- Interface with Sport Science and Sports Medicine to maximize opportunities for individual athletes.
- Must be physically fit and capable of testing skis for a long period of time, and training with the athletes on some of their easy sessions as a method of communication and of training observation.
- Must be able to wax skis, and be willing to improve waxing knowledge, and will at times serve as a technician for athletes for certain weekends.
- Play an active role on World Cup discretionary selection working group.
- Good written and spoken communication skills are necessary.

Consultant/Contractor shall provide XC World Cup Wax/Ski Technician services for the Cross Country Group, performing all duties and services needed for successful training and competition performance by athletes, as more particularly described below.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Athlete Experience at the Elite Level
- Work closely with athletes to select, manage, test, prepare, and maintain the ski fleets of assigned athletes as well as the team in general. Be available to help additional athletes needing support, as directed by the XC Program Director, XC Head Coach, or XC Head of Service.
- Plan for the selection of skis for each assigned athlete, often outside of the period of employment.
- Stay current on SafeSport training.
- Communicate frequently with athletes, coaches, service team members, and other USA staff.
Operational Excellence
- Work with the USA XC Head of Service to learn and assist in the daily testing and working protocols of the USA Service team.
- Work with the XC Program Director and XC Head of Service to develop a personal travel schedule for the preparation season and the race season to support the team.
- Engage in long-term and short-term planning with the rest of the service team.
- Engage in the procurement of equipment and materials as directed by the Head of Service, occasionally outside of the period of employment.
- Familiarize oneself with new technologies and developments in ski sport.
- Learn the complete operations of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard wax truck and grind truck, including the full set-up and take-down of the two trucks. Attainment of a commercial driver’s license (class whatever it is) may be required.
- Engage in the learning and operation of our grinding system and associated projects.
- Occasional support of camps and testing projects outside of the competition season.

- Work with regional coordinators to schedule and provide U.S. Ski & Snowboard support for Regional Elite Group (REG) camps and the National Under-16 camp.
- Work with the D-Team Coach and the Sport Development Director to understand and evolve the XC Development Pathway.
- Take a lead role in the organization and daily operation of NDG camps including staff selection, athlete nomination, training plan, budget plan, lodging, nutrition, travel logistics, occasional fundraising, and coordination with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard high-performance team when applicable/appropriate.
- Lead talent identification. Track prospects and maintain communication with prospective athletes and coaches. Communicate information with all USST staff on a regular basis.
- Oversee organization and daily operation details for U23/Junior World Championships, Under-18 Nordic Competition Teams, and select COC trips including the budgeting, planning and coordination of travel, flights, vehicles, cash advances, lodging, meals, race entries, equipment needs and any additional needs to properly accommodate and prepare the team. Manage and inventory team equipment, radios, and wax supplies.
- Coordinate with and Support the Sport Development Director at U.S. SuperTour, National Championships, SuperTour Finals and Junior Nationals by attending events as a representative of the U.S. Ski Team. Roles include scouting, recruiting, communicating/networking and establishing strong relationships with athletes, coaches, suppliers and organizing committees from around the nation.
- Track performance and nominate the Under-18 Nation’s Competition Team, the Junior World Championship Team, and Under-23 World Championship Team (JWSC/U23).
- Implement the National Coaches’ Education Curriculum at Regional and National Projects. In coordination with the Sport Development Manager, collaborate on the creation of new educational materials and the revision of current educational materials in an effort to further evolve the National Coaches’ Education System.
- Maintain positive relationships with the FIS staff, industry, other national teams, individual race organizations, and volunteers. These relationships are critical partnerships for the USA team.
- May frequently speak with media and should proactively assist the U.S. Ski & Snowboard communication liaison with acquiring notable camp and race news. This may include managing media requests for athletes and coaches, in conjunction with the Cross Country Program Director. Fulfill Development Partnerships including writing blogs, reports and taking photos for projects financially supported by the NNF.
- Have strong knowledge of FIS rules; be aware of changes as they occur.
- Have strong knowledge of WADA and USADA rules.
- Continually improve knowledge of physiology and training theory through active reading and research, video study, attendance of seminars and conferences, and observation of USST World Cup Staff and High Performance Team.
Financial Performance
- Adhere to essential business directives as set forth by the Chief Financial Officer. This includes timely, accurate and ethical expense reporting, accurate budget planning, staying within the budget allocated for specific projects, and exercising foresight regarding changes of plans, contingencies, etc.
- Assist Sport Development Director with all financial matters while on the road, ensuring all coaches under his or her direction submit detailed expense reports in a timely manner after each U.S. Ski Team Project, and keeping accurate accounts of athlete billing.

- Must be physically fit, capable of testing skis for a long period of time, and training with the athletes on some of their easy sessions as a method of communication and of training observation.
- Must be able to wax skis, and be willing to improve waxing knowledge, and will at times serve as a technician for athletes.
- 4-6 years of professional coaching and/or program leadership preferred.
- Foreign language skills are a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision of all nominated NDG athletes when participating in U.S. Ski Team projects. Additionally, when the Cross Country Program Director is not present and in coordination with Sport Development Director, supervision and management extends to ski technicians, support staff, and personal coaches and volunteers when participating in U.S. Ski Team projects.

Executive Director – Jackson Ski Touring Foundation
Organization
Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, founded in 1972, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and renowned provider of exceptional quality cross country skiing and snowshoeing experiences, located in the quaint village of Jackson, New Hampshire. JSTF maintains a vast network of cross-country and snowshoeing trails exceeding 100 km on land owned by JSTF, 70+ private landowners, the Town of Jackson, and the White Mountain National Forest. The JSTF annual operating budget exceeds $800,000.
Position Summary
The Executive Director (“ED”) is a full-time position responsible for all operations of the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation and for providing leadership for the Foundation and its operations. The ED works with the Board of Directors to set policy and procedures for the operation and future of the Foundation, and to ensure mission alignment, organizational stability, and community impact. The ED is the public face of the organization, the internal leader of staff and operations, and the steward of JSTF’s financial and programmatic health. The ED directly manages several functional staff members and oversees approximately 50-60 employees and volunteers who are primarily seasonal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of five years of experience managing functions relevant to a cross-country skiing operation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build and maintain solid relationships
with the Board of Directors, landowners, and donor benefactors. - Proficient time and project management skills with ability to effectively plan, execute, and delegate
tasks. - Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 for preparing budgets, presentations, and communications.
- Passion for outdoor recreation including cross country skiing and snowshoeing is a plus.

- Work with the Board of Directors to:
- Secure permanent trail easements on private property.
- Develop annual and longer-term institutional goals.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase the JSTF customer base, donor base, and volunteer base for events and operations.
- Organizational Leadership
- Oversee the recruitment and employment of employees and volunteers.
- Ensure that sound human resource practices are in place to include maintenance of current job
descriptions and employee performance evaluations. - Interface with external consultants, including accounting, information technology, marketing, and
fundraising professionals. - Oversee purchase, use, and maintenance of trail and office equipment, buildings, and trail networks.
- Maintain positive, cooperative relationships with related organizations, local businesses,
landowners, the Town of Jackson, White Mountain National Forest, and possible retail tenants. - Develop and implement marketing and advertising strategies, including digital marketing and social
media. - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.

- Develop annual and capital budgets for approval by the Board of Directors and manage the business

- Work with the Board of Directors to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
