MA - ME - NH - VT: February 21 2021
New England Women's XC Ski Day was started in 2002 by former Olympian Trina Hosmer of Stowe, VT. Trina was inspired by her "sisters in skiing" in Anchorage, Alaska, who started the Alaska Ski for Women in 1997. Like the Alaskans' original event, Women's XC Ski Day chooses a non-profit women's organization to benefit, and gathers as many women as it can for a day of skiing which includes a lunch and a raffle. The highlight of the day is learn-to-ski clinics with women instructors; the emphasis being on relaxed, fun learning with other women. All ability levels are welcome. Trina hopes that Women's Day helps bring more women together for this wonderful sport and lifestyle.
We are happy to still be offering Women's XC Ski Day this year! We are keenly aware of the pandemic and are following all changing COVID regulations. We will continue to be be adaptable, follow all regulations, and adjust to whatever extent necessary for everyone's safety and wellbeing. We are currently planning to offer five smaller Women’s XC Ski Day events across VT, NH, MA, and ME on February 21st. We ask that participants register for the event closest to them in their home state. If you are not from one of the four states offering a clinic (or if your state's event is full), please register in a state that you can get to in accordance with COVID travel regulations. We will be vetting registrants for everyone's safety and we greatly appreciate your cooperation. Please note that there is no day-of registration this year. We recommend registering sooner rather than later. We believe Women's Day will be quite popular this year and the registration number is capped to ensure we meet gathering size limits and provide a high quality instructional experience. If the event is cancelled, we will offer refunds. If registration is full, you can add yourself to the event-specific waitlist under registration.
We are excited to share that LL Bean is generously providing every Women's Day participant with a NENSA monogrammed flannel (we will do our best to accommodate all size requests made in registration). Women's Day Skida hats are available for purchase only through registration and will be distributed at each event location.
We ask that you carefully read through all the information below. This year's event is different than in past years and we want you to be well prepared.
COVID Guidelines: Our primary goal is the safety and well being of our community and event participants and, with that in mind, we put together the following COVID Guidelines and Resources. We ask that all participants follow NENSA's COVID Guidelines as well as all state, local, and venue guidelines. We ask that all participants wear a face covering at all times when not actively exercising (unless in Massachusetts or Maine where participants must wear a mask at all times). We also ask that all participants maintain 6 feet of physical distance from each other (10 feet while exercising). Guidelines are subject to change and we will keep you updated as to the requirements of our event. All Women's Day participants will be emailed a MANDATORY ONLINE HEALTH SCREEN on February 18th that MUST BE FILLED OUT BY 5PM February 19th OR YOU CANNOT ATTEND. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us host safe events this winter!
Refund Policy: If you do not pass our health screen, or if we must cancel the event, you will be fully refunded (except for the small SkiReg fee). You will also be refunded if you cancel your registration for personal reasons by February 17th.
Facility Use, Lunch, and Preparedness: No indoor space will be offered at any of our hosting venues. We ask that all participants base out of their vehicles. We highly recommend bringing extra warm layers and a change of clothes (especially socks and gloves/mittens). We also recommend bringing hand and toe warmers. Participants will eat lunch in their vehicles or physically distanced at outdoor seating. A tasty lunch will be bagged to-go and in an effort to reduce waste, no drinks will be provided. Please bring your own water and we also suggest a thermos of tea, coffee, or cocoa. LL Bean flannels, raffle prizes, and Skida hats will be distributed along with the bagged lunches and there will be pre-packaged waffle snacks thanks to UnTapped Maple!
Check-in: Upon arrival at your venue, a Women's Day coordinator will check in with you about your clinic and ask a few questions with regard to your experience level.
