In Memory of John Caldwell
Memorial gifts in honor of John Caldwell (1928–2026) celebrate a life devoted to family, education, and the growth of Nordic skiing in the United States. An Olympian, longtime teacher at the Putney School, and coach of the U.S. cross-country ski team across multiple Olympic Games, John helped professionalize the sport, expand opportunities, and mentor generations of skiers. As a founder of NENSA and author of The Cross-Country Ski Book, he made skiing more accessible to beginners and champions alike and helped build the youth and community pathways that continue to thrive today. Your contribution to NENSA will honor John’s legacy by supporting youth skiing, outdoor education, and causes that reflect John’s lifelong commitments.

Support NENSA with a Gift
A donation of any amount is a gift to our mission: to share the joy of gliding on snow through educational, recreational, introductory and competitive programs to nurture and sustain an active cross country ski community for all ages and levels throughout the East.
Thank you for being a part of the New England ski community! Our work is made possible and our community vibrant through your participation, volunteerism, leadership, and engagement.
Over 50% of NENSA’s operating budget is funded through sponsorships and donations. These resources directly support NENSA staffing and programming and reduce financial barriers to participation by keeping membership and event fees as low as possible. We cannot do what we do without your support!
The wonderful programs run by NENSA staff form the bedrock of cross country skiing in New England. Your donation supports the programming and services NENSA provides such as…
