New England Junior Racing & Training
Opportunities abound for athletes aged 14-19 (U16, U18 & U20) in New England. Among winter events, the premiere racing circuit is the NENSA Eastern Cup which consists this year of eight races throughout New England. Most importantly to many juniors, results from these races determine the athletes to represent New England at Junior Nationals.
Two Championship race events also take place each winter: the NENSA Eastern High School Championships and the NENSA U16 Championships. Both events feature 4 races in 2-1/2 days and enjoy intense competition! The NENSA U16 Championships also frequently include teams from other regions giving athletes an opportunity to experience what is potentially their first event with a National/ International flair.
The NENSA Zak/Club Race Series has an emphasis on fun, and offers skiers of all ages a chance to race with their peers and earn points for their clubs! All events that are part of this Series are scored for Club points with all participants earning at least one point for their club.
NENSA offers training, racing and educational camps and trips, both with-in region and out-of-region. Camps include a training and ski education focus designed for developing athletes to their highest potential. All events are posted to the online calendar at www.nensa.net.
Outstanding performances at the Regional and National levels can earn an athlete a spot on the NENSA Elite or Development teams. Team members receive opportunities to participate in Regional Elite Group Camps, U.S. Ski & Snowboard National Elite Group Camps, local training days with New England’s premier clubs, and have access to trip discounts and potential funding for International events.
And, of course for our younger skiers, age 7-13, New England offers wonderful opportunities for fun filled events and entry level competitions. For more information on NENSA Bill Koch Leagues (BKL) click here
