The L.L. Bean BKL Festival is the premier event of the NENSA’s Bill Koch Youth Ski League, dedicated to introducing young people to the lifelong sport of cross-country skiing in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment. The weekend features exciting races and a wide range of winter activities, welcoming skiers of all ability levels from kindergarten through 8th grade.

New in 2025, we will review bids to host the BKL Festival from all New England states in any year, to give more clubs the opportunity to welcome the Bill Koch community to their local trails! Celebrating 50 Years of the Bill Koch League
Ben Ogden’s silver medals at the Milano Cortina Games were a historic achievement, 50 years after the first U.S. men’s Olympic cross-country medal. In the season that followed Bill Koch’s 1976 performance, the Bill Koch League was born, honoring not only that remarkable Olympic moment, but also Bill’s ideals of fun, adventure, and lifelong sport. The Bill Koch League turns 50 in 2026-27.
Over the past 50 years, the League has touched countless lives, instilling values, spreading joy, and building friendships that extend far beyond skiing. At this year’s Festival, we will be celebrating 50 years of the League and invite all current BKL skiers and alumni to join us. Stay tuned for celebration details. We hope to see you there!
