New England Women’s XC Ski Day was started in 2002 by former Olympian Trina Hosmer of Stowe, VT. Trina was inspired by her “sisters in skiing” in Anchorage, Alaska, who started the Alaska ski for Women in 1997. “To teach women the joy of gliding that lies just beyond the plodding walk usually taught to new skiers” said Trina Hosmer, a member of the United States’ first women’s Olympic XC Ski Team in 1972.
Women’s New England XC Ski Day is made possible thanks to lead sponsors L.L. Bean, Swix and Nokian Tyres.
The event benefits the WISE, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people and communities impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking.
