Stowe Nordic: Tour de Stowe

January 20

The next stop in the NENSA Community Tours and Events series is the Tour de Stowe, an Austrian extravaganza featuring skiing through the Trapp Family Lodge countryside, schnitzel, cider, blueberry soup, a vendor expo, raffle, ski demos, and so much more.

Co-hosted by Stowe Nordic and NENSA, this new festival is a re-imagining of the Stowe Mini-Marathon of years past. Course options for everyone welcome all generations of skiers!

BKL and reduced-junior entries can enjoy a supported ski featuring blueberry soup and doughnuts, try equipment demos at Cross Country Skier Magazine’s first stop along their Tour de Trail (with raffle proceeds benefiting NENSA’s youth programming), and return to the warmth of the Yurt for cider from Cold Hollow and a Vendor Expo featuring our friends from Skida, BirdieBlue, Mountain Road Outfitters, and Cabot.

Adult participants in the 12km and 20km tours are additionally invited to a community celebration in the Trapp Family Lodge Bierhall with schnitzel, bratwurst, pretzels, and local beer and a raffle featuring generous donations from Swix that include a wax table, ski and boot bags, and waxes/supplies.

The hills truly are alive, heralding in winter with a blanket of fresh snow. Some minor schedule and course adjustments have been made, all updated in SkiReg, for a later/warmer start and sheltered courses.

Proceeds go to the Stowe Nordic Foundation and will support youth nordic programs in Vermont.

Skiing, friends, delicious food, fun products, and a community celebration in the Bierhall are certainly a few of our favorite things and we look forward to seeing you!

Join us for a fabulous tour on some of Stowe’s best Nordic trails.  The Tour de Stowe is a non-competitive classic technique ski tour taking place on the gorgeous trails of the Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe Mtn Resort cross-country centers.  This is a reimagining of the Stowe Mini-Marathon that some may remember from 20 years ago and this event is intended to be a fun challenge for all ages.

The courses will start and end at the Trapps Outdoor Center.  The 25km course will be a loop and there will be a 15 km cutoff for those who prefer the shorter distance. The 5 km short course is for K-6th graders with treats at the finish. Also at the finish, a Festive Expo is planned with representatives from some great Nordic related companies.

25km/15km Course Info:
Open to all ages able to complete the hilly course.  Check-in will be at the yurt beside the Trapp’s Outdoor Center from 8:30 – 9:45am with a start time of 10:00am. Includes post-event party at the Von Trapp Bierhall.

Jr. Category 15K Course:
Reduced entry fee for age 17 and under skiers to do the 15km course only.  Registration 10:00-10:30am at the Trapps Outdoor Center.  Start time is 10:30am. (Bierhall party not included.)

5km Course Info:
A fun course intended for kids in the K-6th grade novice age group.  Check in at the yurt beside Trapps Outdoor Center from 10-10:45am with start at 11am.  Parents are welcome to ski with kids at their discretion. Treats will be provided at the finish. (Bierhall party not included.)

All proceeds from this event go to Stowe Nordic Foundation and will be used to support youth nordic ski programs in Vermont.
