New England Nordic Masters’ & Seniors’ Training Adventure Camp

  • A casual weekend training event in New Hampshire
  • Held Friday, July 5, through Sunday, July 7
  • Hosted by the Ford Sayre Nordic Club

The goal of the weekend is to bring together New England masters and seniors-age skiers to train, make new friends, and have a blast.

Schedule:

Friday, July 5th: 1pm arrival to Hanover, NH, for an outdoor meet & greet, followed by an afternoon work-out (run or on-foot ski specific activity). We will then hop in the van and drive to Moosilauke for 6:30pm dinner and lodging in the Class of 74 Bunkhouse

Saturday, July 6th: 7:30 am breakfast at the Lodge with an 8:30 am departure for a coached morning rollerski. Ford Sayre’s head Nordic coach, Hilary McNamee, will be on bike for a portion of the ski to provide personalized technique tips for each skier. Logistical support, snacks, water and a brown bag lunch will be provided.

After lunch we will head out for a second coached rollerski with Coach Hilary. For skiers who have both skate and classic or combi roller skis you will be able to use this session to ski in the alternate technique from what you skied in the morning session, so you receive personalized coaching in both disciplines.

Route maps will be published soon.

Following our afternoon roller ski we will cool off in a local swimming hole and make it back to Moosilauke in time for dinner at 6:30 pm.

Sunday, July 7th: 7:30 am breakfast at the Lodge. 8:30 am trail run/hike up Mount Moosilauke, following the path of the Darmouth Ski Team’s annual Moosilauke Time Trial. Snacks/water and a brown bag lunch will be provided. After the trail run/hike we will all hop in the van and head back to Hanover.

Additional details:

Space is limited to 15 athletes, ages 18+. If registration is full and you would like to join the waitlist, please email the event directors.

Skiers need to have all appropriate gear for the outing. Athletes will not need to bring their own car on the rollerski/overnight/hike part of the excursion, though they can if desired.

Athletes should be comfortable on rollerskis and able to trail run/hike at least 8 miles and 2000+ vertical feet in the White Mountains. Beyond that, vehicle support for the rollerski and trail running/hiking at a pace that accommodates all participants will ensure everyone finds a comfortable pace for their workout.

All skiers will need their own rollerski gear, trail running/hiking gear, basic camping gear such as a headlamp and sleeping bag or blanket, and some personal food and water, including desired training snacks, dinner Friday night, and breakfast Saturday morning. Details will be sent out to registrants. A small amount of gear may also be available to borrow; email the directors with questions.
