Climb to the Castle

On the Sunday, September 15th, the Climb to the Castle Skate Race will begin at 8:00AM. The course will start at the Whiteface Toll Booth, climbing for 5 miles with an average 8% grade up the Memorial Highway to the summit of Whiteface Mountain– New York’s 5th highest peak with an elevation of 4,867 feet.

New this season competitors will be started based on their standings in the mini-tour.  Combined results from the first day (prologue and XCX placement) will be assigned FIS mini-tour time bonuses of:
1st place = 60 seconds     16th place = 15 seconds
2nd place = 56 seconds   17th place = 14 seconds
3rd place = 52 seconds    18th place = 13 seconds
4th place = 48 seconds    19th place = 12 seconds
5th place = 44 seconds    20th place = 11 seconds
6th place = 42 seconds    21st place = 10 seconds
7th place = 40 seconds    22nd place = 9 seconds
8th place = 38 seconds    23rd place = 8 seconds
9th place = 36 seconds    24th place = 7 seconds
10th place = 34 seconds  25th place = 6 seconds
11th place = 32 seconds   26th place = 5 seconds
12th place = 30 seconds  27th place = 4 seconds
13th place = 18 seconds   28th place = 3 seconds
14th place = 17 seconds   29th place = 2 seconds
15th place = 16 seconds 30th place = 1 second

The “Bus” or “Wave” for skiers who didn’t compete in Saturday or make the top 30 will start two minutes behind the 30th place skier.

Following the race events there will be an award ceremony for Junior, Senior and Masters Classes based on C2C times (18 people) — we will also have a special award for the overall winners of each classification in the mini-tour (6 people)!

7:00 am: Registration and Bib Pick up opens

8:00 am: Open and Junior Male Start

8:05 am: Open and Junior Female Start

8:08 am: Masters Open Start

Awards at the Castle: 30 minutes after last finisher
