Caribou Bog Freestyle Ski Race (BKL, Club)

The Great Caribou Bog Freestyle/BKL Kids Ski Race is taking place on Saturday February 10th, 2024. The race is hosted by the Penobscot Valley Ski Club Utilizing the new Caribou Bog Outdoor Center as the race venue that has handicap access, restroom facilities and wax room facilities. The race distance is 10km for all ages. The 10km race classes include 10 and under, 11 – 15, 16-19, and 10 year age groups ages 20 and above. The race utilizes a 10km loop with flat to moderate hills that starts and finishes in the vicinity of Outdoor Center. This year the kids race is a BKL (Bill Koch League) event. Three course distances and 5 classes as per BKL guidelines are included in the BKL event. Distances and classes are; 0.5K for under 1st grade, 1.5K grades 1 & 2 and grades 3 & 4 classes, 3.5K grades 5 & 6 and grades 7 & 8 classes. The
BKL races will take place after the completion of the 10km freestyle race.
Online registration will be open through midnight Feb. 8Th, 2024. Day of race registration will be available from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM. only. The race is a mass start that starts at 10:30 AM. Depending on the number of participants there may be wave starts 1 or 2 minutes apart. The BKL Kids race will start at 12 noon. An awards ceremony will take place immediately after the completion of the BKL Kids race. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. This race is considered a community race encouraging all ages and skiers abilities to participate.
