Welcome youth skiers and families! We are inviting you all to join us for races and fun on the trails at Sleepy Hollow. We’ll be having a Classic Race for each BKL age group, Fun Park Speed Runs, and a Ski Tour Scavenger Hunt! See information for registration, race information and volunteer sign up below.
Registration: Please register all children participating in the event. We have online registration (link below) open until Saturday, February 1st at 5:00 pm. Day of race registration will also be open on Sunday, February 2nd from 9:00 am – 10:45 am, located at the Barn on the way up to the meadow. Cost is $8 per skier and payment for all registrations will be in person on February 2nd, cash or check will be accepted. For day of race registration, you must register at least an hour in advance of the race start time.
Adults: Please consider buying a ski pass for the day if you plan to ski out on the trails.
Volunteers Needed: We need volunteers to help with various jobs for the races and registration. Please sign up if you can help below. Many thanks!
Ski Tour Scavenger Hunt: The touring route is TBD based on conditions, and will posted here and at registration on the day of the event. The Ski Tour Scavenger Hunt will be open 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Fun Park Speed Runs: The fun park will be open for kids to get timed and see how fast they can do the obstacles! Start/finish will be at the top of the triangle in the meadow. Timing will be open 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Race Technique & Course: Classic. Race course will be determined by Friday, January 31st and posted in this document and at the event. Race distances are below. Note that Sleepy Hollow is a fluoro-free zone and only basic block/hot wax, liquid free paraffin waxes are permitted for Eastern Youth BKL races. Courses will be clearly marked for skiers, and we’ll put down v-boards to change courses for each successive age group race. Start and finish will be in Molly’s Meadow.

Start: The races will start at 10:00 am with the Lollipop age category. Race start times are listed below. Start format will be a mass start for each race, and with the exception of the lollipop, boys will race first followed shortly after by girls in each age group.
10:00 am- Lollipop
10:15 am- Grades 1/2
10:45 am- Grades 3/4
11:15 am- Grades 5/6
11:45 am- Grades 7/8
Results & Awards
Awards will be given when each participant crosses the finish line. All participants will be receiving a ribbon or a lollipop and a treat:).

Waxing: Waxing benches can be set up under the pavilion. Power is available there too.
Bathrooms/Lodge: Registration will be in the barn, and the barn will be open for warming up and bathroom use. There are portalets in the parking lot, as well as bathrooms in the basement of the ski lodge.
Please no dogs at the event or on the trails.
