Sleepy Hollow BKL Camp

Welcome to Sleepy Hollow’s Summer Ski Camp! We are excited to host a fun week of camp here on Sleepy Hollow’s beautiful 850 acres of forest and trails. The camp is geared towards kids that are excited for some summer nordic ski training. It will combine a variety of fun workouts with activities and games too. 

Due to high demand we will offer two weeks of ski camp this spring. The camps will be identical, so campers should only attend one of the weeks. Email Molly Peters, [email protected], to register.

Dates: June 21st – 25th or June 28th – July 2nd.
Time: 9am – 3:30pm
Cost $275 per child
Ages 10-14
Limit 15 kids.

What will camp entail:
9AM drop off and morning activity.
10AM morning workout (hike, bike, rollerski, ski on hill with water, hill bounding)
Noon: Lunch
12:30 afternoon mellow activity (waxing, video, games, crafts)
1:30PM afternoon explore (orienteering, scavenger hunt, biathlon, run to swimming hole) 3:30PM pick up. 

Note- We potentially may have different pick up and drop off locations depending on the camp schedule. We will be outside the whole day, so make sure your child/children are ready for any type of weather. We do have a covered space for lunch and in case of storms. 

Please pack:
Mask and hand sanitizer
A reading book and/or writing/drawing journal
A lunch and two snacks
Raincoat
Backpack
Water bottle
Extra clothes
Day specific gear (mtn. bike rollerskis, poles, helmet, running shoes, etc.) Swimsuit and towel

COVID REMINDERS AND REGULATIONS: 

*Health screening and temperature checks will be done at Drop-Off daily. If a temperature is found to be over 100.4 degrees, the camper will be sent home. In addition, the Dept of Health recommends that the same adult do drop-off/pick-up each day to reduce contact between individuals. Adults should wear face coverings when doing drop off and pick up. 

*Our staff are required to wear facial coverings while at work. The only exception will be when they are actively cycling or hiking. At breaks on the trail face coverings will be put back on. 

*Frequent hand hygiene stations will be set up. Handwashing will be required, especially after using the bathroom, and before & after eating. Staff will support campers as needed with proper handwashing techniques. 

*All of our indoor restrooms will be closed to the public to reduce unknown transmission sources. We will have restrooms for the kids available with assigned bathrooms for small groups of children. 

*We want all families to know that the trail system we will be using is a public network, owned by Sleepy Hollow. Although all users are asked to follow proper social distancing guidelines and use face coverings as recommended, we will most likely encounter other trail users. Our staff will be coaching the campers on safety protocols while meeting people on the trail to maintain proper social distancing. 

*All staff have completed the required COVID-19 training required by VOSHA. In addition, staff have reviewed the state requirements for summer camp programs and will be modifying activities appropriately. During the camp day we will be following proper social distancing guidelines recommended by the VT Dept of Health. We ask that prior to the start of camp, you familiarize your camper with proper social distancing criteria so that this is not a new concept when they arrive to camp. We realize that this can be more difficult for children to comprehend, and are prepared to manage this in a group setting both on and off the trails. If you have siblings attending camp together please explain to them the importance of modeling social distancing between each other as well. The other campers and trail users may not know they are siblings and mistake their behavior as not appropriate social distancing. The VT Department of Health recommends facial coverings for campers. We will leave this decision to the individual families. 

As mentioned, we will support campers in proper handwashing techniques throughout the day. In addition, we will have hand sanitizer available on site in key locations after points of contact. If possible, please send your camper with personal hand sanitizer and/or disinfecting wipes for personal use. If you have any questions after reviewing this information please contact us 

directly. Please sign, date and return this form to us no later than the first day of camp. This is required for all campers to attend as we want to be sure all families are familiar with our COVID-19 response and the plan in place to follow Dept of Health requirements. 

Note: We will be monitoring changes in Vermont State COVID guidance as the camp dates draw nearer and will be sure to notify parents of any changes in our policies in advance of the start of camp.
