Rollins Roll – Rollerski Race

August 21, 2022 @ 7:00 am – 10:00 am

Classic hill climb up Mt.Kearsarge for all ages.

This event is also the first event of the Allagash Brewing Masters Cup — scored by best two of three placements in the 2022 hill climbs during the NENSA Rollerski Race Series. We want masters skiers to join us!!

  • Open event designed to bring NENSA Rollerski Racing to the New Hampshire region and an awesome opportunity to do a scenic climb on a closed park road. Hosted in partnership with Kearsarge Nordic.
  • 8-8:30am interval start – Awards 9:15am at the summit.

  • This is the second event to be held at the Rollins State Park.
  • We ask that competitors and spectators carpool as much as possible.  There will be 30 parking spots at the top of the road. All spectating shall be on foot from the summit or outside the park.
  • Bib pickup will be at the base of the road.  The organizing committee will shuttle clothes / drink belts to the summit.  Competitors without shuttles can pre-arrange transport to the start after parking at the summit (please consider bringing a mask for this transport).
  • At the start area warm up will be allowed on foot on the park road following proper pedestrian patterns.  Athletes can also carefully ski on Gore and Kearsarge Mt. Road below the park entrance.  Please wear your bib or high-vis for warmup.
  • Course is approximately 3.5 miles long with an 8.7% average grade and 1,738′ rise.
  • Racers will be started in a seeded start list with no breaks between age groups or genders.  The road will be clear of all skiers by 9am (and opening to the public).
  • The top 8 seeded male and female skiers can use NENSA’s matched Swenor Alutech skis.
  • There will be a porta potty at the start and bathrooms available at the summit.
  • Podium Prizes provided by Cabot Cheese.

We were thrilled to have Old Town Elementary schoo We were thrilled to have Old Town Elementary school join our Nordic Rocks program this year thanks to funding from the @killingtonworldcupfoundation and the @sharewinterfoundation. We’re also grateful to Old Town’s PE teacher and community volunteers for spearheading the program on the ground. Old Town Elementary is located right on the University of Maine at Orono ski trails and near the Penobscot Valley Ski Club so students in the Nordic Rocks program have next step opportunities to ski outside of school right in their own community. Below are a few thoughts from Old Town Elementary School students after their first ski session:

❄️ “My joy today was trying skiing and my goal is to try skiing hills next time.”

❄️ “I want to be a world champion skier!”
