NENSA Community Race Offerings
Zak Cup – Celebrating Community Racing
The Zak Cup is NENSA’s scored series, celebrating the dedication and camaraderie of community nordic ski racing throughout the winter. Named in honor of Vlastimil Zak. Winners of the Zak Cup are announced at the end of the season across a Senior (ages <29 years old), and 5 year age group Master’s categories (M1= 30-35 years old, M2 = 36-40 years old etc..). All Zak Cup skiers must complete 3 races to be considered in the season long series standings.
Marathon Series – The “Endurance” Part of Nordic Skiing
The Marathon Series recognizes persistent participation in NENSA Community Races of distances 25 kilometers and longer. Marathon racing has long formed a key component of nordic skiing, and the events that form the Marathon Series are some of the most historic, and challenging, events the sport has to offer. Touring and competitive classes invite elite racers and recreational touring skiers alike to enjoy a traditional ski marathon experience and some of the finest skiing in New England!
Community Events – Fun for All-Ages in All Forms
NENSA Community and Bill Koch League (BKL) Events are designed to celebrate the creative and inclusive ways that skiers find to spread the joy of gliding on snow. BKL events and races are designed to support youth development from ages 0-~14 (Eighth Grade) in line with NENSA’s Bill Koch League Philosophy. Community events are all ages, and come in a variety of formats – from combined alpine-nordic (AKA “norpine”) events like the Stowe Derby, to the hay bail jumping fun of the Stratton Terrain Challenge.
Club Cup – Every Skier Competing Together
NENSA’s Club Cup is an inclusive scoring construct that looks to celebrate club efforts across generations. Scored at NENSA Community Series events, and inclusive of select Eastern Cup races throughout the season.
