NENSA is excited to launch a new series highlighting our fantastic BKL clubs – and their favorite games. We will be highlighting clubs and including any instructions and materials required to try them out yourself – have fun out there, and please see below for the survey link to submit your own game!

Materials: Nuts (Maine West likes hershey’s kisses), Squirrels (the kids), and nests (hoola hoop, rope, cones, buckets, etc)
Skill: No-pole skating (or skiing!)
How to Play: This relay works best with 3-4 kids on a relay team. It can be done classic or skate (no poles in either case) but is a great skate activity. Each team has a ‘nest’. The coach scatter the ‘nuts’ (hershey’s kisses) along a rough line in the snow about 30-50 meters from the ‘nests’. The first skiers in each relay team start together and race to the ‘nuts’, each skier picks up ONE ‘nut’, and brings it back to their ‘nest’ (put it in the hoolahoop, the bucket, inside the nest marked with rope, etc) and tag the next skier on their team who then skis as fast as they can to the ‘nuts’, picks up ONE, and brings it back to put in the nest. Continue until all the ‘nuts’ have been gathered. Each team counts their ‘nuts’ and eats them. Depending on the number of skiers and the number of ‘nuts’, you may want to save some ‘nuts’ in case a team doesn’t have enough for each skier to enjoy one after the game.
Does your club have a unique or all-time favorite game you return to year after year? We want to hear about it!
Please share one game from your club, along with the age group it works best for (or if it works for all ages). If you have a picture or short video, we would love to include that as well. Help us highlight your club and its favorite game in our winter programming!
