Junior Nationals Day One ~ The individual start classic distance races

U.S. Junior Nationals 2020 opened Monday March 9th under sunny California skies at the Auburn Ski Club in Truckee, and our New England JN Team were excited to get the racing started!  Team New England had eight top 5 results and twelve top 10’s across each age category, and the following athletes were all in the top 20 for each race. Congrats to all our New England athletes for a great first day of racing!

In the U18/U20 10k men’s race:  For the U18 men 1st place when to Will Koch (SMS), and 5th place went to Brian Bushey (GMVS) , 11th place was Mathais Boudreau-Goffman (SMS), 13th place was Finn Sweet (Craftsbury Nordic), 17th was Linden Niedeck (CSU juniors).  For the U20 men 5th place went to Griffin Wright (Craftsbury Nordic), 9th went to Bjorn Westervelt (Craftsbury Nordic), and 20th to Andy Rightmire (Colby College).

In the U18/U20 women’s 5k race:  For the U18 women 1st place went to Nina Seeman (SMS), 16th went to Shea Brams (CSU juniors), and 18th to Camille Bolduc (Craftsbury Nordic).  For the U20 women 7th place went to Abigail Streinz (Craftsbury Nordic), 9th went to Rose Clayton (Mansfield Nordic), and 17th place went to Laura Appleby (CSU juniors).

In the U16 girls 5k race:  2nd place went to Sofia Scirica (CSU juniors), 4th went to Ava Thurston (Mansfield Nordic), 16th place was Hattie Barker (Mansfield Nordic), and 19th went to Emma Charles (Mt. Blue Hill High School XC).

In the U16 boys 5k race:  2nd place went to Jack Lange (Putney School XC) and 4th place went to Trey Jones (GMVS), 7th place went to Fin Bailey (SMS), and 19th went to Nate Livinggood (Gould Academy).

Our Wax Techs made some sweet skis for our athletes, and our Age Group Coaches keep all the athletes and their schedules running smoothly.  Next up, the SPRINT RACE DAY on Wednesday!  Full results HERE
