Update: Lake Placid Doubleday and Climb to the Castle

Lake Placid Doubleday and Climb To The Castle

The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF), the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) and the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) invite athletes to a Rollerski race weekend, September 15-16 in the Adirondacks. We are excited to make this a two-day race series and to take advantage of the Olympic venues in our region.

On Saturday, September 15, there will be a Lake Placid Doubleday consisting of a 3 kilometer freestyle prologue rollerski with an interval start followed by a 1.5 kilometer freestyle preliminary sprint. The Doubleday will take place at 9:00AM at the rollerski loop located at the Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jump.

Start Location: Main parking lot of the Lake Placid Ski Jumping Complex at  5486 Cascade Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946

8:00 am: Registration and Bib Pick up open – Inspection on foot

9:00 am: Athlete Safety Meeting and Course Opens for Inspection – At Start

9:55 am: Course Closes

10:00 am: Junior Female 3k Prologue (:30sec intervals)

10:10 am: Junior Male 3k Prologue

10:15 am: Open Female 3k Prologue

10:20 am: Open Male 3k Prologue

10:30 – 11:15 am: Open Agility Session

11:55am: Course Closes

12:00 pm: Junior Female 1.5k Sprint Prelim

12:10 pm: Junior Male 1.5k Sprint Prelim

12:15 pm: Open Female 1.5k Sprint Prelim

12:20 pm: Open Male 1.5k Sprint Prelim

1:00 Awards Ceremony

*This event mimics our new Eastern Cup #4 Saturday event, the Dublin Double.
**Combined placements will determine Series standings)

On the Sunday, September 16, the Climb to the Castle Skate Race will begin at 8:00AM. The course will start at the Whiteface Toll Booth, climbing for 5 miles with an average 8% grade up the Memorial Highway to the summit of Whiteface Mountain– New York’s 5th highest peak with an elevation of 4,867 feet.

Following the race events there will be a brief award ceremony for Junior, Senior and Masters Classes.

Awards at the Castle: 30 minutes after last finisher

Both events are Freestyle.  Registration is open on SkiReg

Championships.
@craftsburyoutdoorcenter not only put on another first rate show, but they also put together nine (!) complete teams for the Club relay. This effort (and a third place finish in the Nat'| Champ relay) jumped the Craftsbury squad from third to first in the year long Club Score.
