I will be 62 this year and I am a decent recreational XC skier. I never see classes advertised for older people who want to improve, for example, but it may be because I live in the Berkshires – not exactly the middle of where I grew up (central VT, before Title 9). It would be fun to try to join races but does your organization sponsor races for all ages (as does running) or is this just for up to post collegiate age group (Olympic/National team hopefuls). My background is hiking and running (at the international level in my early 30’s). I joined your group when my youngest was a high school skier and have participated in your fund raising auctions. I was just curious as this looks like a lot of fun (and hard work! LOL) – Thanks for your reply.

Hi Lea! We don’t offer learn to ski classes, we do have Coaching Clinics if you are interested in learning about teaching technique. I can help point you in the right direction on where to look for lessons in your area. We do offer the New England Women’s XC Ski Day which is a great way to take a ski lesson and meet women from all over New England who also love XC skiing. We also offer a Masters ski race series called the Zak Cup Series (http://nensa.net/zak-cup-series/) Please email me [email protected] for further information on women’s day. I grew up in the Berkshires and can connect you with some other nordies! Id love to hear from you!

It would be great to have a masters start wave for a few of the EC races. Thanks!

      Michael G. –
As Amber mentions above, there is a whole series of races (the Zak Cup) particularly for Masters.
http://nensa.net/zak-cup-series/ Embedded in the Zak Cup Series will be the Eastern Cup race at Trapp’s on Feb. 4, where there will be a separate Master’s wave. I believe special requirements (NENSA/USSA membership) apply to the Eastern Cup races – so check ahead.
      Cheers.

Thanks for your dialogue here – the separate Masters wave for Feb 4 will require a NENSA membership, but not USSA.
